**Revitalised**
I realised I have a lot of interesting encounters these days.
2 nights ago, I met up with a brother and we had a great chat. We shared many things and once again, I learned much from him. There was actually this problem that I was really afraid to share to him. He was the last person, or rather, not one that I would want to share that problem to him. I was really afraid of his response. I was afraid he would shoot me tactlessly.
However, I don't know how I decided to tell him and I received more than I asked for.
The response that I feared would come out from him never came. Instead, he gave me the best advice that I had never heard from the several others I shared the same problem to. He told me the things that God needed me to hear. Talk about ironies.
It's really great to have a christian best friend. Its very different from having a best friend with no relationship with God. While he/she may empathise with your problem and emotions, your values differs. What you think is important, he/she may not share that and vice versa. But with someone whom you share the same vision and value, he/she is able to recognise a biblical principle that's lacking in you (which may have caused the problem). That was what happened to me. That brother took notice of what was lacking in my spiritual life and used it to help me adopt solutions to that problem. This, in turn, increased my conviction to draw nearer to God and make Him the centre of my focus.
I'm not saying that you can't have a close relationship with a unbeliever. It's possible. Several christians I know have best friends who are non-christian. However, when things happens, when problems occurs, they make not be able to help you see what God sees and the spiritual principle you're missing in. Someone who is strong and matured in faith can slap you back in place ( if you allows him/her) and help you grow stronger in your faith.
